Chlamydia
Chlamydia is caused by bacteria, and is contracted through unprotected vaginal or anal intercourse or oral sex.
Symptoms
· A stinging sensation when urinating
· Pain when urinating
· Yellowy-brown or light grey discharge coming from the urethra (urinary tract)
· A frequent need to urinate
If left untreated, it can lead to infection of the epididymis in men, and infertility in both men and women.
Diagnosis
Chlamydia is diagnosed from samples taken from the urine, blood, anus, mouth, or male urethra. Chlamydia can also be without symptoms.
Treatment
Chlamydia is treated with antibiotics.
